Post 10 years of BbB
We're now into 10 full years of BbB; DAoC celebrated it's birthday in early October and we came around shortly thereafter.

A lot has happened in those 10 years. I went from being a college student living with Varadin and Birelan (for those who remember him) to a married guy living on the west coast with his wife and child. When BbB got together, for a few short months, I could not drink legally. Our main activities involved watching movies, smoking cigarettes, and hanging out at Denny's at all hours. I weighed about 50 less pounds; Annathemas had hair; Lazaric was in high school; and, I'd met darkphetus just a year earlier on a trip to Ga. Southern that involved Var and I getting high and drilling our feet into the sand (Var got up to his fucking thighs). Apartment 402, the infamous town-home that Annathemas, Ralladar, Varadin, and I shared was still nearly a year in the future.

Annathemas had never played an MMORPG (and wouldn't for about another year; I believe he started when SI came out)

Varadin's only experience was his ill-fated warrior in EQ "Puup Smeer"

My monitor was a 19" CRT that weighed 50+ lbs. My PC itself was a Pentium-3 500mhz with a first gen GeForce DDR card.

Varadin and I had the "hacker cube" (16 cinder blocks + 2 5' laminate counter tops = massive desk in the dining room).

Varadin once left Moulin' Rouge in the DVD player with the TV on for over 24 hours with the same 90 second clip of music playing over the menu.

In Jan 2002, it snowed in Atlanta and Birelan and I went to Circuit City just before it closed to get him a video card so he could play while were snowed in.

Heh; I hadn't even yet had my wisdom teeth taken out.

Where were you 10 years ago when BbB got together?

Actually BBB formed prior to that. Although we were known as B^3 initials in UO. But it was still Brotherhood By Blood.

At the time DAOC came around though for the huge start to BBB, I was living in Largo, FL. I'd moved down because I had nothing else to do and the lure of another female game I'd met in UO brought me down. She was freaky in bed and a little on the nutso side out of game too.. well. that's what Truwind told me when we all got together at a gathering. I lived about 15 min from Tru and Lodi, 10 min from the beach. It was a good time. Then another guildie started banging the same chick I was, and well.. I didn't care.. but he got all offended when he found out he wasn't the only one tapping it... Guild drama.. bleh bleh bleh.. haha.. damn women!

Lodi, Tru and I were set on UO.. then Lodi decided to try DAOC, it wasn't long til he asked Tru to join, who didn't really want to, but decided to go if I went, so Lodi used me as leverage :P

Good times, got a crappy job working at The Home Shopping Network as a call center guy. Met a few famous people that came to sell their shit on tv... met a few other hotties from the call center...a few were gamers.. caused more drama between them and their boyfriends.

Life was good, had high speed internet, good sex, and lived in Florida. Then I got the call that mom was terminal and dad needed help at home. So off I went back to WV, dial-up, and not much sex. Gaming took a hiatus because dial-up is a big
no-no with 150 albs on your relic... well. actually I couldnt make it from the end gate to the first keep without lagging, rubberbanding, and then crashing.

NEXT!!

i was in high school when i joined. Decided to make a mid on gala and i met lodi, deam, dup, air, phlux. we all leveled to 50 and then they went back to hibs. so i followed and was rr8 in no time. since then i graduated college, bought my first car, have a job, drink the same amount, and moved on from having a girlfriend to a more nomadic mindset.

Well doesn't time fly? It is hard to believe it has been 10 years. When I first started playing a few of you had already established the daoc bbb. I know Lodi asked me to come play and there was a requirement, I had to be a bard. So I started my toon and was welcomed in right away.

If we as a group were anything, we were creative at playing, fun and conversation. Loved the conversations and miss those nights. Our group created drunken rvr Fridays and before you know it other guilds were all joining in. It was/is something special.

There were a lot of changes throughout the years. People grew up, lives changed, people met in the game and fell for each other in real life. Lifelong friendships were made. We all have shared happy times, hard times and sad times. But have always been there to offer help, encouragement and of course a good ragging.

I hope there are many more years of bbb, many more fun times and a great new game on the horizon where we camn all play together again.

I still think we need to target a weekend in 2012 to hit Vegas as a group. It's cheap to stay there, and long term planning we should be able to get a decent amount of peeps there. So I'm pulling rank and saying let's make it happen :) of course I have not told Lodi any of this but he doesnt count

Actually there is a casino in Red Wing, MN that is pretty cool. I bet I could get a rate, and then our canadian friends might be able to make it. Or if anyone has any better ideas let me know. I have been to this place on a group rate before that was good.

I would be very interested in doing something like this, but will need a bit of planning for saving up the cash.

You watch too much TV.. I've been to Cancun and Cozumel several times in the past 8 years. It's great.
I actually would suggest Cozumel over Cancun as it's more laid back but I know the younger crowd loves
the Cancun spring break style.

I bet we could rent a huge frikkin house for less than we'd each pay on hotels.

I think the whole point of the original post is that none of us are really the "younger crowd" anymore.

Nalth- what are you talking about? I am working on getting younger every year :)

Kidding aside, I dont think that Cancun/Cozumel would fit most of us and if we were to attempt a get together we have to consider costs etc.

Was just a suggestion.. But if price is the problem Cozumel is cheaper overall than flying other places for a lot of us because we would
save alot on accomodations. The flights are usually about double the normal flights but thats more than made up for by hotel costs. I can't afford to fly and stay in Vegas personally. I did it last year and it was a huge expense. Cozumel costs me about half of what I spend on a Vegas trip.

Like I said it's justa suggestion and I'm not even sure I'd be able to go at all this coming year but Cozumel is just such a great place that I have to recommend it.

check out this place i found on a quick search.
